JEWELLERS OF LIGHT

A stroke of luck, the actual meaning of Windfall,

brought in 2004 Clarissa Dorn and Roel Haagmans

together, when they started an atelier with the

goal of modernising the classic crystal chandelier.

The mix of the views of Clarissa, based upon her

long term experience in art and interior decoration, and the thoughts on lighting and design of

Roel, one of the best classic chandelier designers, resulted in a new understanding of crystal

luminaire design, a new kind of subtle charme of

‘haute couture‘ in lighting was born.

Windfall stands out for a very personal and passionate way of handmade working, our proximity

to our customers and the willingness to change,

our expertise and pursuit of unconventionality.

Our design language is made up of emotions,

nature, art, colours and tradition. By listening

to the needs of our clients, we develop unique

solutions on a daily base.

WINDFALL

Windfall started with single bespoke design, and

in the last 17 years the most beloved ones found

their way into our permanent collection.

A collection, where all items are made on demand

in finish, colour, size and shape, which allows for

each piece to be customized to our client´s needs.

At the end of 2004, Windfall introduced the

concept of a chandelier being lit by downlights,

freeing it from its tradional structural limitations.

Floating crystal objects are illuminated by downlights which can unfurl unimagined emotions

through the spatial illuminating effects that result.

A total flexibility of composition in size and shape

evolves. Best illustrated by our iconic Balance

chandelier.

Windfall is constantly seeking to discover and

deploy, new forms, always on the look out

for unconventional, extraordinary and elegant

solutions.

HOMEBASE

Situated in the heart of Munich, next to the

university, the showroom and our office is open

for everybody to discover our Windfall creations.

Located in former private ateliers of the Arts

Academy built in the year 1910, the space reflects

the spirit of our company.

With the help of our small and dedicated team,

all the required renderings, technical drawings, manuals, photos and prototypes are made

in-house.

We ship worldwide and our office handles all

transports, documents and certifications on a

daily base.

An open workspace, the perfect place to have

meetings with clients and architects, situated in

an area to unwind after work or for a quick lunch

in one of the many small restaurants, bars and

terraces.

A place where we spend so much time, should be

like a second home.

From the beginning Windfall reinvented the

crystal chandelier

We introduced 3D modeling and CG renderings to visualise our ideas and give us the best

possibilities to present our designs to our clients.

Our goal is to find the perfect solution for every

situation.

For each single project, from a small dining table

up to large scale casinos or palaces, we make

visual presentations, often to fit within a certain

budget. Based upon the actual situation, we use

tailor made pieces from our collection or design

in collaboration with the architects something

completely new and unique.

Especially on commercial projects we design

landmarks, to stand out from the rest, or develop

exclusive corporate designs to be used around

the world, as we did the last 13 years as well for

several luxury fashion and jewellery brands, as for

an airline.

CREATIVE

Inspiration comes from the world around us, the

past and cultural history, nature and the intelligent

use of forms and colours.

Ideas come also from clients, sometimes scribbles,

moodboards or just feelings that are translated

into lighting objects, chandeliers.

The design process is managed by Roel and his

team who work out technically fitting solutions,

shopdrawings and mockups, often in collaboration

with our artisans, to find new ways and techniques

for production.

All ingredients, distilled to the pure essence,

spending light and joy every single day, as one of

our clients wrote:

‘Each time I switch on the light, I just sit and

enjoy looking at it‘

CRAFTSMANSHIP

Only the combination of the best design with

the best materials and best craftsmanship can

withstand time and fashion.

Our suppliers are our greatest treasure, often since

generations handing over traditional techniques,

they are manufacturing crystal, glass, fabric,

leather, tassels or metal pieces in a broad variety

of techniques corresponding our drawings.

Next to traditional brass work, we use stainless

steel in combination with 3D and laser cutting to

discover new solutions pushing the boundaries of

what is technically possible.

At our workshop in Munich, close to the office,

parts are assembled by hand, one chandelier at a

time, by our experienced team and packed to be

sent around the world.

BESPOKE

BORN TO BE BESPOKE

Windfall started to design and manufacture

bespoke chandeliers and after 13 years, we still

dedicate most of our time making special designs

for our discerning clients, and finding a solution

for each individual project.

Bespoke starts with our so called bespoke collection, where all items are tailor-made in shape, size,

composition and colour, and ends with creating

something completely new.

Windfall is all about bespoke, we need this challenge, this empty sheet of paper and the exchange

of scribbles and thoughts with clients, designers

and architects.

Brainstorming with our team and finding new

techniques with artisans and technicians, to visualise and build the impossible.

A special baby are our bespoke staircase chandeliers, always one of a kind and a landmark for

every private residence, hotel or cruise ship.

We have made chandeliers up to 18 meters, that

need special requirements regarding statics, structure and lighting. Not to forget the challenge of

finding a good possibility for service and cleaning.
