I have lived in Japan for eight years, so my Japanese is good and I can do simultaneous
interpretation.
Japanese friends also say that I am fluent in Japanese, and some even say that I am
similar to Japanese.
However, my teacher told me that when studying Chinese, there are advantages and
disadvantages to speaking Japanese.
The good thing is that I know a lot of Chinese characters and know what they mean,
so I learn them faster than others.
I started learning pinyin, and after just five months of learning, I can already
communicate with Chinese.
In fact, this greatly exceeded my expectations, and my colleagues did not expect me
to improve so quickly.
However, the problem is that my Chinese pronunciation and vocabulary use are also
influenced by the Japanese language.
The teacher said Chinese pronunciation should be like running water, but mine
sounds like fried beans.
Recently, my Chinese level has been getting higher and higher, and I feel that
Japanese and Chinese are beginning to influence each other.
For example, when I meet Japanese friends, of course, I should speak Japanese.
However, sometimes, while speaking, Chinese new words suddenly pop out.
Especially after drinking, I am happy and more courageous, so it is easier to say
Chinese.
When my Japanese friends heard this, they were shocked and encouraged me, saying
that my Chinese was good and I was making rapid progress.
However, I could sense that they were actually a little sad.
Because, if we speak Japanese, they don't think I'm a foreigner.
They were very frank with me and we have a lot in common.
But when I said Chinese, they suddenly realized that I was actually a foreigner.
They did not dare to Spoke the real soul talk, and unconsciously developed a sense of
distance.
So, for me, knowing Japanese has pros and cons, and knowing Chinese pros and cons.
