Why Bamboo

Bamboo is grass: Botanically, bamboo is not wood, but a 'grass' that grows very fast. It

could be said that bamboo is the fastest growing

plant on earth. Some species could grow 30 to

50cm per day in growing season. It needs some

time to mature and get enough hardness and

density (normally for quality bamboo veneer,

panels and worktops, it needs older bamboo than

5 years).

The most amazing feature of bamboo is its

self-replenishing characteristic. This shows its

grass nature. After being harvested, bamboo needs to be treated timely to get sugar out,

sterilized and dried.

Ideal alternative to wood: Bamboo, with self-replenishing characteristic and fast growing

ability offers an excellent alternative to wood. Choosing bamboo could save forest.

We only use MAO Bamboo (Phyllostachys Pubescens) which has ideal physical

properties. MAO Bamboo has big diameter, fine

color, grain and density which are comparable to

hardwood and very suitable for industry

application.

The key factor to have bamboo be ideal

alternative to wood is its excellent mechanical

workability. Mature bamboo produced well could

get excellent wood-similar characteristics. For

example, bamboo is harder than oak, also it has

very minimal tendency to swell or shrink.

0.6mm veneer is backed with fleece bonded with D3 water resistance PVAc glue. Both the

fleece and glue are imported from Europe.

The color uniformity within single sheet and between sheets is very important. We have

strict color selection system to assure color match for customer.

Bamboo veneer - Manufacture

From grass to veneer

Bamboo stem to strips: Firstly, the bamboo stems are split into strips lengthways.

The strips will be boiled, steamed to get sugar out, sterilized and kiln dried.

Regular two patterns (Horizontal and Vertical), Teak, Wheat and Zebra

After drying, the strips are fine planed to smooth rectangle shape.

--Horizontal (plain pressed): Gluing the strips horizontally, the panels show visible bamboo knots.

--Vertical (side pressed): Gluing the strips vertically, the panels come in fineline pattern with less visible

bamboo knots.

--Teak, Wheat and Zebra come from laminating block of crushed bamboo strips.

Slicing, Drying, Grade selecting and Splicing

The panels are laminated into blocks and be submerged in hot water for softening. Then, it will be sliced.

The veneer sheets will be dried and selected in different quality and color grades. The narrow sheets are

jointed to regular sizes with uniform color match.

Backing and Fine sanding: The veneer is backed with European fleece and D3 grade PVAc glue. The

backed sheets are stronger and easier to handle. A fine sanding will be applied to make sure the

thickness is equal.

Color selection and Package: There is strict color selection before packing veneers to assure color

uniformity within sheet and between sheets.

Strong pallets, thick paper cartons, moisture protection and plywood crate give further assurance on

quality delivery.

Quality

--We use mature Phyllostachys Pubescens (MAO bamboo) over 5 years only to get the

most excellent hardness and products stability.

--Uniform thickness and excellent slicing quality.

--We back the bamboo veneer with a kind of D3 water-resistance PVAc glue and cellulose

fleece. Both the glue and fleece are imported from Europe.

--Color uniformity. We know the importance of color uniformity within sheet and between

sheets. Strict color selection system was introduced before shipment.
