It is potted with a flat lip and flat 隆 礬 隆 foot. The exterior is painted in iron-red enamel with two imperial five-clawed dragons above underglaze-blue formalized 紅 年 waves and clouds. The base is inscribed with an iron-red four-character Qianlong seal mark. The lip is painted gold and 隆 開 隆 is accompanied with an iron-red cover. Each side is enameled with a panel of various auspicious flowers emerging from 光 年 the rock, including a blossoming osmanthus fragrans, hibiscus, begonia and chrysanthemum. Each gilt-decorated panel 山 製 is surrounded by an iron-red floral scroll. On one side, it shows a garden scene of a butterfly 琺 軒 flying above a cat sitting on the grassy top near a blossoming prunus tree emerging from a rock. The other side shows a 瑯 」 cricket standing on a beetroot-like fruit near brunches of chrysanthemum. The base is inscribed with a four-character Qianlong mark 勾 製 in regular script within a double-square. The trunk is nicely potted as a ruyi at the end. The back is covered with a cloth painted with mountain, sea and ruyi clouds surmounted on colored pendants. A small iron-red and gilt vase is set on the 形 saddle to hold the incense. The present lot may be one of the decorations of an incense holder in a dish form. The base is gilt with a Qianlong four-character seal mark. The top consists of seven lappets enclosing gilt-decorated circular motifs surrounded by iron-red 珍 乾 flame wisps. Details in the center are partially painted with coloured glazes as an attempt to 金 乾 recreate the vividness on the metal prototype. The material 一 製 used to make this Buddhist ritual ornament is usually indicative of its importance. A gold Wheel of Dharma is usually 對 」 at the top of this hierarchy. The Wheel of Dharma is usually an altar piece found in Buddhist temples. More popular materials of choice include cloisonne enamels. In the case of this porcelain recreation, there is no religious functionality present. However, the material used suggests its importance as a piece of art that recalls religious tradition. Duchange family collection, Paris, France 此對描金法輪以白瓷為胎，表面通體罩金釉，以紅、藍、綠色釉仿紅寶 石、藍寶石和綠松石點綴，底部有篆書「大清乾隆年製」款。 法輪本為佛教法器，佛祖釋迦牟尼開始説法也被稱作「初轉法輪」，為 藏傳佛教徒舉行法事所用之器物，以金法輪最爲珍稀。法輪又被用作佛 堂中的陳設品，清故宮內多處建有供皇室成員禮佛瞻拜的佛堂，七寶、 八吉祥是佛堂中必有的陳設品，以景泰藍質地爲多。七寶當中，輪寶即 為法輪。 本品以陶瓷為胎，既非法器，又非佛堂內的擺設，而是清代官窯製作的 具有象徵意義的工藝品。本拍品模仿金法輪而製，以金釉和浮雕模仿被 錘揲之金屬，再用顔色釉點綴，模仿金器上鑲嵌的寶石，工藝確實別具 匠心，精美絕倫，有如金屬法輪，做工惟妙惟肖。 可參考南京博物館藏一例，載錄於南京博物院，《中國古代金器大 展》，南京，2013年，頁301。另可見一件署嘉慶年款之例，源自阿姆斯 特丹蘇富比，1995年10月16日，編號172，曾於1997年1月展覽於香港 藝術館，最後一次售於香港佳士得，2020年7月9日，編號2716。 來源 1. 3316 A RARE YELLOW GROUND GREEN AND AUBERGINE-GLAZED ENAMELLED VASE SEAL MARK AND PERIOD OF QIANLONG 清 黃 「 乾 地 大 Finely proportioned with a narrow neck, slightly sloped rounded shoulders supported on a splayed foot. A true piece of 隆 褐 清 art evenly glazed in brilliant yellow, and floral details in the center embellished with alternate green and purplish-brown 綠 乾 glazes. Green glaze was finely applied to the exterior rim alongside a band of brown ruyi. The bottom with a six-character 彩 隆 Qianlong reign mark. 花 年 卉 製 The aubergine glaze is prized for its rarity. It is one of the most challenging glazes to fire since its components require 紋 」 a demanding environment in the kiln, and a slight alteration to the substance in the glaze could alter the colour of the final product. In fact, the aubergine glaze was not an innovation of the Qing dynasty. Various aubergine-glazed bowl 長 were excavated from Song dynasty archaeological sites, but they often appear brownish in colour in preceding dynasties because the craft was still at infancy. 頸 Combination of the yellow, aubergine and green glaze on porcelain found their way to the hearts of royal family members 撇 from as early as the Kangxi period. This is a Qianlong model with designs faithful to earlier prototypes, which is fitting for the emperor who adored tradition. A very close resemblance to this lot could be found in the Palace Museum collection, 口 illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum: Miscellaneous Enamelled Porcelains, Plain Tricoloured Porcelains, Hong Kong, 2009, p.167, pl.132. 瓶 H 32.2cm HK$ 600,000 - 800,000 US$ 77,000 - 103,000 PROVENANCE 1. 3317 A RUBY-GROUND FAMILLE-ROSE 'FLORAL' WALL VASE SEAL MARK AND PERIOD OF QIANLONG 清 胭 「 乾 脂 乾 The wall vase is flattened at the back and well modelled with the ovoid body up from a short splayed foot to a broad 隆 紅 隆 shoulder and waisted neck, flanked by a pair of archaistic scroll handles, resting on a trompe l'oeil gilt-decorated faux- 地 年 bois stand. The body is painted with a slightly sunken gilt-bordered lobed cartouche enclosing a scene depicting gnarled 粉 製 and intertwining foliate stems issuing multi-coloured floral buds and blooms, including camellia blossoms, two small 彩 」 butterflies rendered fluttering nearby. The cartouche is surrounded by stylised lotus blooms borne on scrolling foliage, below a descending bat suspending a tasselled chime painted on the neck reserved on a rich ruby-red ground. The 開 mouthrim is encircled with a pendent ruyi band and the footrim is bordered with a floral frieze. The base is inscribed with a four-character seal mark in a single line. Duchange family collection, Paris, France 壁瓶背為平面，撇口，裡施松石綠釉。束頸寬肩，口沿描金，藍彩點飾 一圈，下承如意紋，通體施胭脂紅地，飾以粉彩纏枝寶相花卉紋。頸部 繪蝙蝠銜磬圖，頸部兩側置仿古卷形耳。瓶身正中開光，內繪花蝶圖， 山茶花色彩斑斕，枝葉靈動，藤莖曼妙而生，一朵蓮花含苞待放，伴隨 著兩隻彩蝶在旁翩翩起舞，畫面生動。瓶高束腰，圈足外撇，飾一圈纏 枝花卉紋及藍彩點綴，與瓶口相呼應。下承珊瑚紅地描金三足仿木座。 整體造型玲瓏秀巧，曲線柔和。 底座施礬紅色釉為地，上繪金色點狀紋 及如意雲紋。底施礬紅色釉，以金彩書「乾隆年製」單行橫向篆款。 此器如縱剖的半器，呈扁平式雙螭耳瓶，背為平面，有孔可穿繫固定於 牆面或轎子之內，故稱之為壁瓶或轎瓶。此類型器始見於明萬曆朝，清 代盛行於乾隆時期。壁瓶在清宮檔案中被稱作轎瓶，是懸掛於轎內的裝 飾物，亦可懸掛於齋堂牆壁上作插放花卉之用。 始見於明代萬曆年間， 乾隆二年唐英任督陶官後，改明時之厚重為纖巧，佐以華麗紋飾，深得 乾隆帝鍾愛，以之裝飾宮廷，故宮養心殿三希堂內即掛壁瓶十四隻，並 多次賦詩文讚賞，見於《清高宗御製詩文全集》。同時，每次出巡，都 將壁瓶隨身相伴，作為御洵裝飾，供沿途採花賞花之用。 乾隆壁瓶形製 豐富，凡傳世所見經典的瓷瓶造型均被化裁為壁瓶，紋飾富麗繁密，構 圖頗見章法，既保留中國古典精華，又融合西洋藝術，花紋兼施以規矩 之錦地，錯彩鏤金，窮妍極巧。 參考一例，與本器應為一對，原屬紐約重要藏家Samuel Putnam Avery (1822-1904)舊藏，至1879年贈予美國紐約大都會博物館。 來源 A ruby-ground famille-rose 1.
