Both breakfast and dinner are provided on weekdays and all meals at weekends. Breakfast is

provided in a hotel style bu!et with a wide range

of Chinese and western options.

In the evenings, students sit in mixed age groups.

We o!er an excellent bu!et style service so that

even the most selective eater can find something

delicious and healthy with Friday evenings menu’s

selected from a di!erent country each week to

allow students to try a range of tastes.

Pupils are supervised by boarding sta! at Prep time.

All pupils from the Boarding Houses attend Prep

and if for any reason a student misses Prep or is late,

they must speak with the House Master/House

Mistress. Students will complete their Prep either in

their own rooms or in additional supervised areas.

Prep time is carefully monitored to provide maximum support. If boarders feel that they are falling

behind, they can speak with their Houseparent or

BHm and be sure that they will be helped in a

supportive and appropriate manner.

In addition, some pupils will need further support

and individual tutoring during Prep. We currently

o!er English and Maths support programmes that

link to the curriculum to ensure that student progress is in line with expectations.

We discourage private tutoring unless the academic

school advises that tutoring is appropriate. Background checks on the tutors are completed in

advance of any tutoring sessions.

Weekly boarders are free to leave the Boarding

Houses at the end of the school day on Friday,

returning between 7.00 - 8.30pm Sunday evening.

Weekly boarders must be collected by a parent,

guardian, driver or someone known to the Boarding House and if not a parent, this must be communicated through our boarding assistant

advance.

A series of events and trips are arranged for those

boarders who remain in residence over the weekend.

Pupils may not leave the campus by themselves on

any given day unless given a sign-out slip by the

House Master or House Mistress.

We require 48 hours' notice of leave for our

full-time boarders on weekdays and 7 days' notice

for weekends. Notification must therefore be

received before Sunday lunch time a week in

advance if a boarder will be leaving the House for

a weekend so that we can revise bookings for

weekend activities.

student’s own risk.

We teach the students not to touch or use other

student’s equipment but we cannot be held

responsible for their loss or damage.

Please note the School does not have insurance for

Small stereos are allowed but pupils are to be

considerate of their peers within the House. Valuable jewellery, watches and electronic equipment

that is not part of the school equipment list should

not be worn or held in school.

Mobile phones and other devices should have

location finding applications on them where possible.

We encourage individuality of space and one way

for students to express themselves is by using the

pin boards that are provided.

versa.

* Anyone found stealing will be sanctioned and

may be asked to leave the Boarding House.

* The use of tobacco and vape products, illegal

drugs, alcohol and pornographic items is strictly

forbidden and there will be serious penalties for

pupils involved with these activities, including

the likelihood of being asked to leave the Boarding Houses.

* The BHm has the right to search the private

possessions of boarders when they feel there is a

need due to a contravention of the rules.

We are proud of our boarders and expect them to set high standards with regard to school work, homework and participation in all aspects of school life. Without exception, we expect them to set the

standards for the whole School. In order to develop a sense of personal worth and self-esteem, boarders

Boarders submit laundry on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, to be

returned the following day. Students are asked to take note of PE

lessons and EA timetables when considering laundry and have enough

uniform and kit to allow for wash and wear.

Parents will always be informed of any concerns from the school’s side and should feel free to let us know

of any concerns either they or their child have. Parents are always welcome to visit their children and if

necessary, a formal meeting may be arranged to ensure that all is well and to resolve any queries or

concerns. The House Master/ House Mistress is always willing to meet parents by appointment for a private

discussion, though we hope that parents rarely feel the need for such a meeting.

of any concerns either they or their child have. Parents are always welcome to visit their children and if

suggestions. In the Boarding House, all opinions

are sought and respected. Whether you are a

student, parent, guardian or a member of sta!,

we strive to encourage openness and dialogue.

There may be times when a boarder feels unhappy about being away from home or something

that has happened to her or him. In this situation

the most important thing is to seek out an adult

to talk to. The House Master/ House

Mistress/Nurse/Houseparents and Tutors are

always available to talk to pupils and their families if there are any concerns.

We also have a system of peer support and each

student will be assigned a buddy of the same age

and a senior boarder (we call this a Big Brother

or Big Sister) who can often be a great first point

of contact. These concerns may be about general

routines or helping new members of the community to settle in and should be quickly

resolved. For concerns of a more serious nature,

the Head of Boarding o"ce should be contacted. If any student is concerned about any issue or

the way that they are treated at school by another

pupil or adult then they should speak to, write to

New students away from home for the first

time may feel homesick. Every e!ort is made

to support them in settling in; many activities

allow students to develop friendships with

their peers. All new students are given a

buddy to guide them through the first few

weeks. Every boarder is also assigned to a

personal Big Sister or Big Brother: these

senior students act as mentors who, together

with the Boarding Prefects, play a key pastoral

role for the youngster. All contribute to

establishing a strong family feeling in each

House.

The Houses are led by the Head of Boarding,

who is responsible to the Headmistress. The

Head of Boarding, in turn, leads a team of

House Masters and Mistresses who have a

wealth of experience with the welfare and

academic success of the boarders at its heart.

The House Masters and Mistresses are also

teachers and are able to support boarders with

their studies.

The House Master/House Mistress and

assistants live within the Boarding Houses and

are assisted by several key sta! whose roles

are essential. Three nurses are on duty around

the clock co-ordinating medical support.

Helping your child prepare to leave home is important, you can do this by spending time talking about

the forthcoming move and by helping to pack

possessions which will give comfort and a link to

New students away from home for the first

time may feel homesick. Every e!ort is made

to support them in settling in; many activities

allow students to develop friendships with

their peers. All new students are given a

buddy to guide them through the first few

weeks. Every boarder is also assigned to a

personal Big Sister or Big Brother: these

senior students act as mentors who, together

with the Boarding Prefects, play a key pastoral

role for the youngster. All contribute to

establishing a strong family feeling in each

House.

The Houses are led by the Head of Boarding,

who is responsible to the Headmistress. The

Head of Boarding, in turn, leads a team of

House Masters and Mistresses who have a

wealth of experience with the welfare and

academic success of the boarders at its heart.

The House Masters and Mistresses are also

teachers and are able to support boarders with

their studies.

The House Master/House Mistress and

assistants live within the Boarding Houses and

are assisted by several key sta! whose roles

are essential. Three nurses are on duty around

the clock co-ordinating medical support.

Helping your child prepare to leave home is important, you can do this by spending time talking about

the forthcoming move and by helping to pack

possessions which will give comfort and a link to

Within the school there is 24-hour nursing

care available. There is a ‘surgery’ at 7:00am

each day when children may speak to the

Matron on duty about any medical matters.

Boarders are, of course, free to visit the

surgery at other times of the day at the Medical Centre if necessary. The boarding Medical

Centre is located within the Knoll. Boarders’

health is continually monitored by the nursing

sta! and if they feel that the pupil needs

further attention, they will accompany them

to the local hospital.

All medicines brought to school are to be

signed into the Medical Centre. We would

not generally contact parents if a boarder has

a mild health issue but we will always contact

parents if their child is visiting the doctor or

hospital for anything serious. It will sometimes be the case that a pupil may go home

for a period of recovery if this is advised by a

medical professional. All swimming and

sports absences require a sick note from the

nurse prior to the lesson.

• Possession or use of unauthorised firearms or other weapons

• Vandalism and damage of resources/property

• Serious misconduct towards a member of the school community or which brings the

school into disrepute on or o! school premises.

Action by sta!: Sta! will report serious misconduct to the relevant House parent on the day it occurs.

Recording: Incidents of a serious nature are recorded on the student’s file.

Complaints: Investigation of a complaint or rumour about serious misconduct will normally be co-ordinated by the boarding sta! member on duty and its outcome will be reported to the House Master/Mistress. Parents will be informed as soon as possible if a complaint is serious.

Search: A boarder’s space and belongings may be searched if there is reasonable suspicion of an impropriety (such as being in position of controlled substances or dangerous items or property belonging to someone else or if a student is deemed at risk of harming themself). This will be conducted by a minimum of

two members of the boarding sta!. At all other times the privacy of the individual is respected. Clothing

will not be searched until it has been removed from the wearer and care will be taken to ensure reasonable privacy.

Restraint: Any use of physical restraint will be by reasonable and non-injurious means, only when immediately necessary and for the minimum time necessary to prevent injury to self or others or very serious

damage to property. Restraint will always be recorded in writing and the details will be passed onto the

Head of Boarding, House Parent, Head and relevant Child Protection O"cer.
