two parts: \"Experience\" and \"Notes in Adversity\". This book picture Tao

Fen's growth track and mental journey from a poor student to an

excellent journalist, publisher, and patriotic democracy fighter. It is

considered a microcosm of the life path of modern intellectuals. In

November 1936, Mr. Zou Taofen was arrested and imprisoned for

participating in leading the Chinese National Salvation. In prison, Tao

Fen noted his experience of studying and working in his life over the

past 20 years for the reference of the young generation. It also vividly

recorded the valuable experiences of his six inmates, including Shen

Junru, Wang Zaoshi, Li Gongpu, and Sha Qianli, who were detained

together. \"Experience\" includes \"Experience in Twenty Years\"

,

\"Experience in Hong Kong\" and \"Appendix\"

, a total of 61 articles. In

1944, Taofen began to write \"Notes in Adversity\" when he was sick.

This is both an autobiography of the author looking back on his life in

exile, and a historical document protesting against the regime's

cultural domination. The third chapter has not yet been completed,

Zou Taofen

In 1926, Zou Taofen took over as the chief editor of \"Life Weekly\"

and opened a \"Mail Box\" column to answer all kinds of difficult

questions for readers, and set up a public space for the exchange

of ideas between editors and readers. Later, it became a successful

model of editorial interactive cases in the history of newspapers

and periodicals. This book is a collection of 120 letters and answers,

divided into six major sections, the topics involve education, career,

love, marriage, law, politics, social issues, etc. Some of them were

published in \"Life Weekly\" that year, and some were only privately

answered and unpublished. The content is rich, witty, and serious.

Some events and plots can be described as bizarre and fascinating;

some social problems and phenomena are no different from what

we are facing in contemporary society. Together, these letters bring

a unique reading experience of the magical overlaps of time and

Development

Rong Ma

First published in 2001, Ethnicity and Social Development is a

concept of \"ethnicity\" to the unique social context of China,

The Journey of a

Community:

A Case Study of the Han

Family in Xi Village

Mingming Wang

This book describes the social life history of Xi Village (Anxi) in

Fujian, China. It examines, from different perspectives, the

community history of a remote village far away from metropolitan

China. It also reflects on the “Southeast China model” of sinology

and anthropology’s clan theory. The author's historical and

anthropological research on the family as a local political and

ideological form in Xi Village shows us how kinship ended the

ancient phase and entered the modern era. During the gradual

separation from the cultural matrix, the people of Xi Village have to

face the intensified impact of popular culture and the suppression

of its traditions. How do they adapt? How to recreate the vitality of

community life in their daily life and their extraordinary rituals? The

villagers' efforts to revive their traditional vitality are inspirational to

those who have adapted to modern culture too quickly. The

narrative stemming from a tiny village also provides us with an

example of how to see the big from the small.

Zhejiangcun: The Story

of a Migrant Village in

Beijing (Revised Edition)

This book sheds new light on state-society relations in contemporary

China by demonstrating how rigid official boundaries internal to the

state system, which were essential for the state's control over society,

have paradoxically facilitated the growth of new social spaces. Based

on a 6- year fieldwork, the book takes us to Beijing-Zhejiangcun

(literally 'Zhejiang village'), the biggest migrant community in China,

located only five kilometers south of Tian'anmen Square-where

100,000 migrants, have organized a vibrant garment industry despite

regular state crackdowns. It docuaments the spontaneous evolution

of Zhejiangcun into a hub of nationwide migrant business networks

transcending officially imposed boundaries. The book also makes use

of Chinese folk insights and philosophical traditions as analytical tools

for tackling fluid social relationships unconfined to physical space.

This new edition adds in a foreword with a retrospect of Zhejiangcun's

changes since 2000, with an elaboration of \"regularization\" and \"splitseize model\".

Chinese middle class, which becomes the most important social

force for maintaining the stable development of the society. This

PSYCHOLOGY9787807682059

Yongyu Guo

Erich Fromm (1900-1980), a German-born American

psychologist, sociologist, and philosopher, profoundly

influenced both Western and Chinese societies with his works

on the dilemmas of modern humans. This book offers an

interpretation of Fromm's theory in contemporary society,

emphasizing the trend towards personal independence and

strength in individual growth. However, this pursuit also leads

to increased alienation from nature, others, and oneself.

Relentless striving for success and setbacks threaten selfesteem, resulting in negative emotions such as loneliness and

helplessness. Fromm's analysis reveals how individuals

attempt to alleviate these emotions through authoritarianism,

nationalism, and consumerism. These psychological patterns

persist today, highlighting the enduring relevance of Fromm's

theory. The book explores the modern human dilemma and

of Lighters

Yusheng Long

Few people realize that it wasn't until the early 20th century that

humans were able to safely and easily start a controlled flame

with just one hand, anytime and anywhere. The seemingly simple

invention of a lighter embodies the essence of scientific and

technological advancements in materials and craftsmanship.

This book is a delicate and high-quality work that presents an

unprecedented exploration of the history and culture of fire

starting. It also serves as a \"paper museum\" showcasing lighters

from ancient times to the present, from around the world. The

book features exclusive, high-resolution photos of nearly 300

lighters, accompanied by detailed descriptions of their designs,

craftsmanship, structures, materials, techniques, and aesthetics.

The book showcases the evolution of lighters from their primitive

origins to their peak over the past six centuries, allowing readers

On December 17, 1994, Dou Wei, Zhang Chu, He Yong, and the Tang

Dynasty band, arriving in Hong Kong through special channels,

electrified the Red Star Coliseum with their \"Rock China Power\"

concert. This landmark event is widely considered the pinnacle of

China's golden age of rock music and remains one of the most

influential concerts in Chinese rock history.

Ahead of the performance, He Yong famously quipped that Hong

Kong had only entertainment, not music. Driven by media hype, this

'raid' on the Hong Kong music scene propelled these young

musicians into the limelight.

Plateau, the photographer, captured an unusually calm Dou Wei, a

consistently melancholic Zhang Chu, and an intensely angry He

Yong that night.

Three decades later, Plateau unveils a collection of over a hundred

never-before-seen photographs from the Red Star concert,

accompanied by his honest and candid handwritten notes. This

book transforms a legendary moment in rock history into a tangible

piece of memorabilia for rock fans and music enthusiasts alike.

A Comprehensive

Reading of the Analects

In this insightful guide, Peking University professor Li Ling offers a

fresh perspective and practical methods for approaching the

profound wisdom of the Analects, one of the cornerstones of

Chinese culture. Unlike traditional line-by-line commentaries, Li Ling

delves into the Analects from two distinct angles: exploring the

individuals mentioned within its pages and examining the

overarching philosophical themes it conveys.

The book's structure reflects this dual focus. The first section,

\"Biographies,

\" provides a detailed account of Confucius's life, his

disciples, and his assessments of ancient sages and contemporary

figures, laying the groundwork for a comprehensive understanding

of the Analects' context. The second section,

\"Ideas,

\" delves into

Confucius's political ideals, his perspectives on life and morality, and

his distinctions between noble and ignoble characters, offering a

thematic exploration of the Analects' core teachings.

This two-pronged approach, weaving together biographical insights

and thematic analysis, provides a profound and accessible

framework for interpreting the Analects. It transcends the limitations

of traditional commentaries, inviting readers to step beyond the text

and gain a holistic understanding of Confucius's era and his

enduring philosophical legacy.
